Awe Inspiring Glass Staircases
Looking to update your existing staircase? We have extensive knowledge and experience of transforming both domestic and commercial stairways into an architectural pleasure. As a staircase is often a key feature of any property, updating it can add a lot more value than the cost of the renovation itself. Where glass panels are installed it allows light to flood through and illuminate previously dark areas giving a contemporary and airy look and feel whilst also increasing the feeling of space. A timber staircase can be transformed by replacing the wooden spindles with glass panels to give a modern vibe. Alternatively for a complete staircase refurbishment, we can install stainless rails and furniture for the ultimate sleek and stylish finish. Installing toughened safety glass or laminated glass we ensure all projects comply with building regulations.
Where Our Glass Staircases Can Be Used
Using glass in place of wood or metal allows the expanse of light and has the ability to open up an existing space. If you have a dark stair or landing area obscured by spindles or panels, replacing with a glass balustrade allows for a seamless continuity and adds architectural elegance. With versatility of designs and fittings the refurbishment or new installation of a glass staircase can be used in many different settings, including at home and commercial buildings.
What choices of Glass Staircases are available?
With a full range of glass and fitting options, we can manufacture and install your chosen style of staircase glass to optimise your project to its fullest potential. Whether it’s removal of spindles to be replaced with glass panels, a frameless staircase to achieve a minimalist, sleek appearance or a complete new installation using stainless fittings, we can help make your project truly bespoke to you. In addition, we can shape the glass to the contours of your staircase using our state of the art machinery. Depending upon the design chosen there are also options of Satin (frosted) and tinted glass.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can wooden infills on a staircase be replaced with glass?
Absolutely! This is very often the biggest transformation in a staircase we see, as the solid panels are replaced with a light and reflective material that really opens up the space. Depending upon the original properties of the staircase there may be some refurbishment works to be completed but we will work with you to ensure a smooth and swift completion.
Can you replace wooden spindles with glass?
Yes, this is the most common staircase refurbishment we undertake. Spindles can be removed and replaced with glass that can be fixed by either being embedded into the the base and handrail or by use of brackets.
Does a glass staircase need a handrail?
No, although many of our clients prefer the handrail option for comfort purposes, if a handrail is not required, the use of toughened laminated glass provides the strength and safety to eliminate the requirement for a handrail.
What type of glass is best for a staircase?
The type of glass used for your staircase installation will be dependant upon the design chosen. For installations with a handrail we generally advise 8mm or 10mm toughened glass, with 8mm being the most popular. For installations that will not have a handrail then 17.52mm toughened laminated is the most common choice.
Will the glass staircase comply with building regulations?
Yes, we ensure all installations meet UK building regulations. Should you be a self-install we will help to advise you on this.
Will all the staircase have to be replaced if I want glass panels?
No, the existing staircase can be refurbished and altered to accommodate glass panels without the requirement for a full replacement.
Can I have the fittings in anything other than stainless steel?
Yes, besides stainless steel the fittings are available in a range of various metal finishes e.g. brushed brass, nickel, chrome, etc and we can also powder coat the fittings to any colour on the RAL chart.
How do I obtain a quote to have glass installed on my stairs?
Please see our Staircase measuring guide which walks you through the simple steps of measuring your staircase in order for us to provide a quote. Should you have any problems whatsoever, contact one of our friendly team and we will be only too happy to help.
How long will it take to refurbish my staircase with glass?
Once you have chosen your glass type and fittings, generally, for a standard clamp fixed glass panels, for supply only the lead time is 7 working days. For installation by ourselves then the lead time is 10 working days. For a stepped rake design or fittings that require powder coating, the lead time would be longer than this but we will advise you at point of order. Installation time is dependant upon each individual project and again will be advised at enquiry/order stage.
